Newton Box is President of Slim Haney Machining Inc. After an outstanding pitching career at Phillips University, where he compiled a 28-3 career record, in 1978 he was selected an NAIA 1st Team All-American. Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds, he played minor league ball in the Reds’ farm system for two years. Borrowing on qualities cultivated on the baseball diamond – including work ethic, focus, self-confidence, adaptiveness and stress management – Newt has achieved great success in the business world.
He launched his business career in sales of metal supplies. In 2004, Newt acquired Slim Haney Machining. Under his guiding hand Slim Haney has grown over the past 15 years from 30 employees in rented buildings with an annual revenue of $2.5 million, to 70 employees and a 20,000-square-foot climate controlled building on 3.1 acres with a revenue in 2018 of $14 million.
