Hopper Smith has worn multiple hats over the course of most of his professional life. For 35 years he was a member of Oklahoma’s National Guard, commanding at the company through regimental levels, serving two combat tours in Afghanistan, and attaining the rank of Brigadier General. Concurrently, Hopper served in the business world in several capacities, including Director of Government Relations for Chesapeake Energy, and in the political world, from 1996 through 2003, as an Oklahoma state legislator. At present, Hopper is the Executive Director of the recently reformed Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission.
All of which well qualifies Hopper to present at FocalPoint’s April Forum on “wicked problems,” issues in the marketplace and elsewhere that resist resolution (e.g., the NFL vs. Colin Kaepernick). Hopper will guide us to an understanding of the unique nature, causes and consequences of wicked problems and of how we can achieve their successful resolution, rather than surrender to inaction or retreat.
April’s Forum will not only offer takeaways for our personal and professional lives, but will in addition afford us opportunities to network and nurture relationships with some of Tulsa’s most perceptive business leaders.
