“Life and Leadership Lessons from the Appalachian Trail”
After graduating from OSU in 1977, Brad taught junior-high science for 7 years. He launched his career in lawn care in 1984, building and selling several lawn care businesses before starting LawnAmerica in 1999.
Brad developed LawnAmerica into the largest independent lawn company in Oklahoma and one of the most respected in the region. Today, over 60 employees serve nearly 15,000 customers out of LawnAmerica’s offices in Oklahoma and North Carolina.
LawnAmerica has been featured numerous times in the industry’s trade journal. Because of Brad’s heart to give back to the community, the company contributes nearly 3% of gross sales annually to area non-profits, schools and churches. Last fall, Brad sold majority interest in LawnAmerica, and he is currently phasing out of the business.
In 2010, Brad took off almost 5 months to hike the entire 2,178 miles of the Appalachian Trail, while raising over $100,000 for local charities. At Thursday’s Forum Brad will present on “Life and Leadership Lessons from the Appalachian Trail” and will give away copies of his book, “A Compassionate Journey,” which is based on his Appalachian adventure.
